2nd Annual Easter Basket Blog Hop!

Happy day, friends!!

Today is the day to share the Easter basket goodness you've put together for the little (and big) loves in your life.  If you happen to have an Easter basket ready to share today, then have at it!  If not, do not fret .... you are not alone!  I made a quick Target run yesterday right after I got off a plane from Charleston because I needed to get Jackson's ready for this today!!  You can share your basket(s) today through the end of April, so no rush!!

Below are the details of this fun little "blog hop"....  you may remember that I hosted one last year.  It was so much fun and really neat to see all of the amazing baskets of goodies that were put together for little ones, husbands, friends, etc.  Because I love Easter something fierce, I decided to make it happen again this year! :)
THE DETAILS:
You simply share the Easter egg logo above in your post along with a few photos of the basket you put together .....whether that be for your minis, husbands, pups or whomever!!  Link-up below and make sure to link back to this post so your readers can stop by and check out everyone's fun Easter baskets!  I hope you'll join in on the fun!

And here's Jackson's Easter basket [let me not pretend that I've had this ready to go for weeks --- there was a mini photo shoot occurring here at 9:30 p.m. last night]!  The good news is that all of the Easter eggs are stuffed with candy and his basket will be ready and waiting for him on Easter Sunday!   I decided last year that I was going to use this same basket year after year until he begged me to no longer put together a basket for him (so I'm thinking when he's in his mid-forties, right?  I kid... I kid).  Anyway, he LOVES talking about the Easter Bunny and I think he's going to have a ball this Easter (he was a champ last year after a few Easter egg hunt training camps - ha)!  Cannot wait to celebrate our RISEN Savior with my family on Sunday!  So no more rambling, here's a quick look at his basket

NOW IT'S YOUR TURN --- LET'S SEE THE FUN + THOUGHTFUL BASKETS YOU'VE PUT TOGETHER FOR YOUR NEAREST & DEAREST!

The day I almost cried over an Easter basket

Happy Friday, friends!  Let me not pretend that I am completely giddy that Friday is here this week --- I'm Charleston bound with my best friend for some much needed down time (and amazing food .... and mimoas... and pedicures ... and a really great hotel).  Anyway, I plan on keeping this relatively short and sweet today (you know this is a lie as I ramble) since I have 82,000 things to tackle before I can actually leave for said awesome vacation! ;)

[ONE]
So, yesterday... let's talk about it.  Yesterday was the first day in my entire life that the sight of an Easter basket almost made me cry.  Like big, ugly, completely overwhelmed and happy tears.  I was working from home and Cason got home a little bit earlier than usual and asked me to come outside real fast.  Okay, weird.  I walked out front to find the most darling Easter basket filled to.the.brim. with goodies for Easter activities for J and all kinds of fun things!!!  There were bright colored Easter eggs spread all across our flower bed, a "You Bless Me" tag on the door, an Easter place mat for J (that's laminated and will help him with learning to write his name!) and HUGE, adorable Easter chalkboard prints at the doorstep.  I mean.  At first glance I thought this was all the hubs' doing.   But no, my most precious friend Emily of Dear Owen had driven 40 minutes or so from her casa (with a 2 year old and brand new babe in tow, mind you!) to leave this amazing surprise for us!!!!  I truly almost cried --- such a sweet, thoughtful and kind gesture.  And what really sweet words to read --- YOU BLESS ME.  Those words and these treats came at just the right time.  They made my day and Jackson's too .... he's over here going crazy drawing on his Easter place mat while demanding more watermelon for breakfast.  :)

Anyway, here are a few photos of the goodies because they are too awesome not to share!

Personalized Activity Place Mats & Easter Printables found HERE in Emily's Shop!!

These are some of the goodies that she surprised us with.  Jackson is going to have a ball coloring tht huge Easter egg and I'm about to frame the Happy Easter chalk printable right this minute.  All so cute!!!  Little did I know she was selling these as a printable pack in her awesome shop!  Perfect for a fun day of activities with your mini(s) or even for a play date with friends!

Emily, you are the very best and have such a great heart for your friends and Jesus!!  So blessed to have you in my life, friend!  THANK YOU for taking time out of your wild and busy day to brighten ours!  You and your sweet little family are a blessing to us!

[TWO]
Better believe we'll be visiting Boone Hall Plantation (where The Notebook was filmed) on this trip to Charleston.  And yes, chances are very good that Ryan Gosling will be there and will say to me ... "if you're a bird, I'm a bird!"  ;)  Ha!

[THREE]
Speaking of Ryan Gosling, this  "HEY GIRL" meme has my name all over it.
[FOUR]
And speaking of French Bulldogs, have you met Trotter Pup?  Dear Winston - you need to step up your game.

[FIVE]
Let's talk about Easter plans / Easter brunch.  I haven't planned a single thing and that's so unlike me.  Between my upcoming girls trip to Charleston, my in-laws visiting, my cousin and her family visiting next weekend, work and ALL the other things in between, I just haven't put any ideas together for the annual brunch at our casa.  Nor have I picked out Easter outfits. The show will go on regardless, right?!  And it's just not about the outfits or the brunches, so I'm not going to stress over it too  much.

Here's a fun table setting from our First Annual Easter Brunch.... and here's a link to my "Easter / Spring" board on Pinterest if you too are in need of some fun ideas!!

Happy weekend ahead, all!!  If you need me, I'll be on a carriage tour with a mimosa in hand in Charleston.  ;)
I hope you'll join in on the fun though and link-up with us!  It's all too simple!
Post about any five things you'd like.

Easter Baskets, Yummy Treats & Stop Waiting for Friday.

Hi friends - if you're stopping by to join the Five on Friday link-up, please bare with us this morning as I'm having some technical difficulties with the link-up program [meaning it's just not working and I'm not a happy camper].  Fingers crossed the link-up goes live soon .... if not, I think it's safe to say that the day will go on.  ;)

Anyway, let's get to it --- MY FIVE ON FRIDAY!

[ONE]
I saw this on Pinterest last night and immediately loved it. It's no secret that I am a big fan of Fridays. It's just a great day of the week --- and I big, puffy heart LOVE the weekends. But, this is such a great outlook.....
[TWO]

AN EASTER BASKET BLOG HOP.  Yes, you read that correctly and yes, I'm crazy.  You may remember that I hosted a little Easter basket link-up last year.  It was so fun to see all of the great baskets of goodies that y'all put together for your minis, husbands, friends, etc.  Because I love Easter something fierce, I decided to make it happen again this year!

Here are the details:
You simply link-up on APRIL 16TH (or any day thereafter through the month of April) and share photos of the Easter basket(s) you've put together.... whether that be for your minis, husbands, pups or whomever!

Rules:  there really aren't any.  Because, I mean, this is an Easter Basket Blog "Hop" --- God help me if I've created rules for such a thing.  But, do go ahead and share the cute little logo over there and link back to the post on 4/16!

[THREE]
"Bunny Bait" - the best treat ever.  It's basically Easter's version of crack.  That just sounds wrong on so many lever.  Anyway, last year I made this "BUNNY BAIT" for Jackson's mother's day out teachers and a few of our good friends.  It is SO yummy, super easy and obviously very cute.  More details here if you are looking for a fun Easter treat.  It's definitely on my agenda to make some again this Easter, but I'm going to have to have Cason hide it from me.  IT'S THAT GOOD.

[FOUR]
As soon as May rolls around, this little beauty will be adorning my desktop.  Bring on the popsicles.

[FIVE]
This teal wingback chair.  I have my eye on it for our bedroom, but am a little on the fence.
What do you think, friends??

Let's Fiesta, Swimsuit Fail, A Makeover + More Nonsense.

Hey friends, hey!  Friday is here and that simple fact is worth celebrating in my opinion!  Jackson woke up asking for donut holes, so we're about to head out the door for a quick trip to Starbucks + Shipley's Donuts.  My kind of Friday.  Anyway, if you've been following along for awhile now, you're already in the "know" about the Five on Friday link-up I host along with a few sweet friends each week!  If this is your first time hearing about the link-up, check out the details below on how you can join us!  :)  Let's get to it.....

[ONE]
I saw this cute invitation by Minted and had absolutely no choice but to find a way to use it.  Seeing as how it's a tad bright and girly, Jackson's 3rd birthday was obviously out ---- no worries though, I improvised and decided to have a little breakfast fiesta play date on Cinco de Mayo.  Brilliant + completely absurd, right?
[TWO]
Remember my boring entryway that I shared awhile back and was hoping to rework / restyle a bit?  It's still not 100% done, but we're getting there.  We painted the table Hale Navy by Benjamin Moore (it's a gorgeous deep navy - the bad lighting in these photos aren't doing it any favors though), bought a new mirror and replaced the hardware with this gold pull.
What do you think?  Better?

[THREE]
I mentioned last week that I had ordered these two cute swimsuits by Zinke and high hopes for them.  They were pricey, but looked gorgeous and I really want a super cute and flattering swimsuit.  If you've had your eye on them, let me go ahead and save you some trouble and give you a quick review.  They are not flattering.  I repeat, not flattering.  The one-piece (which was a stretch for me as I haven't worn a one piece since about 6th grade) isn't lined at the chest AT ALL and it is very, very low cut.  It just didn't work and looked super awkward.  And I don't think it had anything to do with the fact that I'm 5'1" and need to lose 10 lbs.  It's just not flattering and unless you're crazy tall and weigh 95 lbs, it likely won't be what you had in mind.  As for the two piece - it runs very small and just wasn't cute enough on to justify the price.  Back they go.  :/

[FOUR]
I have some big news {and no, it's not a babe on the way - ha!} ..... we're thinking very seriously about building a new home in early fall!!!  I'm beyond excited and my poor husband is likely wishing that Pinterest was never invented at this point.  My "wish list" just keeps growing and growing.  Check out these kitchens.  They make my heart swoon and I *need* one of them!  A girl can dream!   Hoping to create something very similar though!
[FIVE]

3.20.2014

Let's get caught up, shall we?

In case you missed it, I've been on a little blogging break over the past few weeks.  It's been lovely and we've stayed busy, but I've missed this space and am ready to jump back into things!

So, in no particular order, here's what's been going on around here as of late.....  :)
That's right.  These pastel swimsuits [found here] will soon be mine.  I'm crossing my fingers that I love one of them.  And yes, I'm officially 31 years old and ordered a one piece.  Oh.my.word.  It's happening.  Anyway, I tried one on last year and the hubs was NOT a fan in the least, so I stuck with a bikini.  But, at what age do you need to throw in the towel and call it was it is and sign up for a one piece?  My main concern is being comfortable and reasonably cute on the beach in Rosemary in May .... it's not like I'll be lounging around sunbathing / napping in a comfy chaise lounge chair .... no, with an almost 3 year old in tow it will be like competing in a triathlon.  Or that's what I'm trying to prepare for anyway.  ;)  Chances are good I'll be chasing him (and not the pretty, running on the beach Baywatch style running) ....  and he'll be climbing all over me.  Do you see where I'm going with this?   Is a strapless bikini the most practical thing for the beach triathlon I've just described?  I just don't know.  Stay tuned.

---- insert random transition from bikini talk to making forts and such ------

Several "forts" have been made in our living room, cartoons have been watched and Winston snuggles have occurred over here in the past few weeks.

Far too many bags of popcorn have been popped (don't mind the m&m's though, those are calorie free in my world)......

Again, more snacks and a few movies (and one poor pitiful beggar pup there in the corner).

I've been trying to work out at home.  This is my view during sit-ups.  ;)

It only makes sense to mention that you've been working out and then talk about the cupcake you ate at 10 a.m. the other day, right?  RIGHT?

We made some cookies for St. Patrick's Day.... Jackson consumed his weight in icing and has a deep, new found love for Lucky Charms.

I've been scheming up ideas for our Easter Brunch this year ....  here's a glimpse at last year's setup.  Two things immediately come to mind when I look at this photo:
1.)  Ranunculus......  I heart them.
2.)  Gimme that cookie on a stick!

I pulled the trigger and ordered this gorgeous mirror from Wisteria.  I think it softens the space a little and I'm happy to see the solid black mirror go.  On the agenda this weekend is the paint the table Hale Navy by Benjamin Moore and add a brass pull.  Ekkkk.  Can't wait.  I need to add some new / better accessories .... adding that to my to-do list now.

This beauty from House of Belonging is supposed to arrive today.  It'll go on the entry wall (the wall on the left of the photo above).  It has a distressed gold frame.  I'm pretty sure I'm going to tackle the UPS guy this afternoon because I'm so damn excited to get my hands on this.

I don't know that this needs a caption.  It's just that good.

I had J's new print framed and we're loving it along with the globe you see there .... Cason and I somehow ended up in a little antique store on our "date day" a few weeks ago (random, I know) and we found that gorgeous globe.   We cut the stand wayyy down (it was about 3 feet tall) and painted it.  Long story short, his big boy room is really coming together.  :)

This piglet has made numerous trips to the park with us to feed the ducks [Jackson wants to go and feed the ducks on a daily basis .... it's basically his J.O.B.... I just wish that someone paid him to do it].  Anyway, I digress.   The whole point of this was to say that Winston has been going with us to the park / on duck trips and he's officially a master of the slide.  Cutest piglet I've ever seen.

How's that for a random recap of ongoings in our world?  Truth be told, these are usually my favorite updates --- photos from my iPhone of real life around here!  More soon... I'll be back tomorrow for Five on Friday with my favorite girls! :)
