Jackson's First Birthday Party - A Vintage Fiesta!

The most precious little amigo in all the land turned ONE in late June
and we fiesta'd in a big way [and yes, "fiesta'd" is most certainly a verb]!

Big Surprise :::::  I went overboard.  HA!  I swore and really and truly believed I wouldn't be the over-the-top mom who throws birthday parties that rival some weddings, but I'm really, really glad I went crazy and made it a big deal [and who was I kidding....deep down I had to have known I'd be "that" mom?].   With all that said, next year we might just be having cake and ice cream.  I repeat....cake and ice cream.  Only.

What started as mostly a joke when I was pregnant about having a mini donkey carrying saddlebags filled with Mexican beer on his back at our son's first birthday [ridiculous, right?] soon became a reality.  Not your typical first birthday party, per say.  I almost talked myself out of it since trying to make a fiesta theme classyvintage and child-like was challenging at first.  Once I had the invitation design perfected with the help of Debbie [who I can't say enough good things about!] from Wants & Wishes, the rest fell into place!

Anyway, his party was so much fun and it was a day that I know Cason and I and our families will always, always remember!  Jackson's first year has been filled with so much JOY, love, fun and laughter ----------
and if THAT isn't a reason to celebrate, I don't know what is!

Last, but certainly not least, a big THANK YOU again and again to my brother and sister-in-law!  The gorgeous new home you see in these photos is theirs [our casa could not have comfortably held 30+ people]!!
Thanks, guys - we love you!

These photos make my heart happy and have me wishing we could do it all over again.

Hope you enjoy getting a glimpse of our little amigo's first fiesta!

Um, have you considered a career as a party planner? Seriously, this is incredible.

Also, I don't believe the next year cake / ice cream story for one second. Nice try!

Alright honey, I don't know how you did it but this fiesta is AMAZING!! I just love everything about it. The decor, the food, the colors - really, just fabulous!

I thought I outdid it with my son's 2nd birthday. Everyone wondered what I will be doing next year and I said just pizza and cake - ha!

Jackson is adorable and you all make such a beautiful, loving little family. Great job!

I have been debating between a Kentucky Derby theme and Fiesta for my daughter's first birthday in May. Fiesta is easier but I have been wondering how I can keep it from getting tacky. You have given me some great ideas. Thank you for sharing this! And p.s. When I thought she may be a Cinco de Mayo baby, I too talked about getting a donkey. You aren't alone!
